Racial and Social Justice

Our racial and social justice work delivers on our mission to eliminate racism and empower women.

YWCA York delivers the following programs and events:

Race Against Racism: JOIN US on the last Saturday in April each year to support our community. Run, walk or race at this 5K event in Downtown York Click here for info: Race Against Racism

Anti-Bias Education: This is the approach we use in our early learning centers that takes an active look at challenging bias and prejudice, teaching children to respect each other’s difference.

Racial Justice Committee: Fosters on-going discussion, community activities, and trainings focused on a range of topics pertaining to race, privilege, and human rights. The important mission of the Racial Justice Committee is accomplished through a collaborative approach that seeks to create bridges between individuals, communicate organizations, faith-based organizations, businesses, and schools. If you are interested in joining the committee or would like to bring a representative to your organization for a training, please contact Ruby Martin at rmartin@ywcayork.org.

Professional Racial Justice Training: An interactive and reflective approach to teaching about privilege, assumptions, and the “isms” that exist in our society today. Our skilled presenters will tailor their approach towards the unique needs of your organization. Please contact Ruby Martin at rmartin@ywcayork.org  to discuss the many options for trainings and presentations
