Jean M. Treuthart, Chief Executive Officer
Jean M. Treuthart brings over 30 years of experience in organizational leadership, revenue building, fund raising and advocacy to YWCA York. Previously, Jean championed access and opportunity to education at Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC) in the position of Campus Vice President of the York Campus.
Treuthart’s primary focus at HACC was working with her team to create a highly diverse, multicultural learning community that provides York County with a well-trained workforce. Under her leadership, the campus had been the fastest growing in the college’s history with 2014 enrollment reaching just over 3,000 students.
Prior to working at HACC, she was the vice president of academic affairs at the Bradley Academy for the Visual Arts where she worked from 1988 to 2002 and taught marketing and management courses.
Treuthart graduated from the University of Maryland with a bachelor’s degree in management studies and went on to earn a master’s degree in cultural communications from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland. She has been a frequent community speaker on social and economic justice topics related to the fields of education and women’s leadership roles.
Treuthart is active on several community boards, including: the Rotary Club of York, York Hospital, and the York County Economic Alliance (YCEA). She served on the United Way of York County’s campaign cabinet from 2008-2010 and is a member of the Women’s Giving Circle of the York County Community Foundation.
In 2013, she was recognized by the YCEA as the Education/Workforce Advocate of the Year. She lives in York with her husband, Steve Baker.
Rick Azzaro, Chief Services Officer
Rick Azzaro has over 20 years of experience working with children and families. In the capacity of clinician, administrator and trainer, he has collaborated with the mental health community, government agencies, law enforcement and the educational system. Rick received his master’s degree in clinical social work at the University of Maryland. He has served in a variety of leadership positions in both Maryland and Pennsylvania. Rick is dually licensed in the States of PA and MD as a clinical social worker. Rick has trained on a number of mental health topics related to children and families and has developed clinical programs for several private agencies. Rick currently conducts a nationally recognized workshop depicting the impact of trauma through the writings and artwork of a victim. He has presented the workshop all over the country to a variety of professional disciplines. He is presently the Chief Services Officer for Victim Services Access- York/Victims Assistance Center, programs of the YWCA York. Rick is also an adjunct professor in the behavioral sciences department at York College Pennsylvania.
Ruby Martin, Chief Program Officer
Ruby Martin is the Chief Program Officer at YWCA York, where she is responsible for overseeing the overall operations for the early learning programs, school age care, youth programming and camp, professional development/racial justice, the community development project and health promotional services. Prior to joining YWCA York, Ruby served as Vice President of Education for a national child care company, ran several early learning programs, and did extensive work throughout the community on boards, committees and as an advocate for children and professionals in the early childhood field. Ruby has published excerpts in two early childhood textbooks and as a curriculum author through the Library of Congress. In addition, she is a certified trainer for PA and has done many professional development sessions at national, state and local conferences. Ruby is also adjunct faculty at both Penn State York and HACC. Ruby holds a Master of Education in Early Childhood Education from Towson University and received her Bachelor of Science in Recreation and Leisure Administration from York College of Pa. She serves as a member of the Child Care Consultants Board of Directors, sits on the Membership Committee and Government Relations and Advocacy Committee through Pennsylvania’s Child Care Association (PACCA), is currently participating in the “Expand the Brand; Leadership in Communications” statewide co-hort and participates in the Early Childhood Executive Leadership Institute. Ruby has been the recipient of the White Rose Award (2000), Children’s Champion award (2006) and most recently was recognized as one of the Central Penn’s Business Journal’s 40 Under Forty (2010).
