York Synchro-ettes

 The Award Winning York Synchro-ettes!     

                                     

Synchronized swimming is an exciting and challenging sport that combines ballet and gymnastic moves. The girls perform above and below the water. Synchronized swimming is the only all-female Olympic sport!  Girls interested in the team should sign up for our synchro class.

Congratulations York Synchro-ettes on an amazing performance of

POCAHONTAS

 

 

 On August 4, YWCA York hosted the Synchronized Swimming segment of the Keystone Games.

The 59thAnnual Purdon Smith Whiteley Award competition was recently held at the YWCA in York.  The competition consisted of females in grades 6-12 who were rated in areas of aquatic and personal performance.

Since 1952 an Exquisite silver bowl has been presented annually by a member of the Whiteley family to the young women of the YWCA York judged to be most deserving.  In addition to aquatic skill, competitors are rated in the areas of leadership, sportsmanship, responsibility, cooperation and department service.

 The first place award was presented to Celeste Brooks.  Celeste, the daughter of Steve & Paige Brooks, is a sophomore at Central York High School.  Celeste’s events included synchronized swimming, form swimming and a commendable personal evaluation.

Sharing second place are Amanda Heathcote and Rebecca Lachman, both are sophomores at Central York High School.  Third place winner is Samantha Schlundt a sophomore at Kennard-Dale High School.
