YWCA and York Revolution Team Up to Walk a Mile in Her Shoes
York, PA, December 19, 2009 — YWCA York, in partnership with the York Revolution, is hosting the first annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event on Friday, April 23, 2009. Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is an international march, aimed at stopping rape, sexual assault and gender violence, where men take part in a mile-long walk in women’s high heels.
The fundraising event in April, which is National Sexual Assault Awareness Month, will benefit the Victim Assistance Center, a program of YWCA York, which offers free services to victims of sexual assault or other violent crimes. The walk will begin and end at Sovereign Bank Stadium in downtown York. Registration will begin at 4:00 p.m., the walk will start at 5:00 p.m., with a Revolution baseball game to follow. YWCA York is seeking a media sponsor, monetary donations, gift bags/raffle items, and beverage and snack donations for the event.
