4th Annual Race Against Racism

York, PA— The time is drawing closer for runners to prepare to take their marks, get set and go for the 4th Annual Race Against Racism 5K Run/Walk.  The event, hosted by YWCA York, York County Community Against Racism, and the York City Human Relations Commission, will be held Saturday, April 24, 2010, at 9 a.m., starting and ending in front of YWCA York at 320 East Market Street with entertainment from local performers before and after the race.

A Kids’ Fun Run for children under 12 years of age will be held on the 300 block of East Market Street at 8:30 a.m.  All Fun Run participants will receive medals.

There are several opportunities to volunteer for those who would like to be involved, but not run the race.  Some of the opportunities include: assembling race day bags, posting No Parking Signs, working at the registration table, handing out course guides, and timing runners at the end of the race.  If anyone is interested in volunteering, they can get a registration form online or call YWCA York at 717-434-1760.

Participants of all ages are welcome, and may compete individually or as part of a team.  Prizes will be awarded for overall winners, age category winners, and the largest team. Raffle prizes will also be given out.  Register online at www.ywcayork.org or in person at the front desk of YWCA York.

For the fourth consecutive year, WGAL-8 is the regional media sponsor for the three local Races Against Racism.  Other sponsors this year include: YCCAR, PSECU, Asbury Church, and Giant.  We are accepting sponsors at many levels, for more details please contact Bernadette Green at 717.434.1760.
